In his life, Vincent van Gogh painted about 40 self-portraits, because he often didn’t have the money to hire models. Two of the following self-portraits were used as inspiration for the series of Van Gogh 3D objects.
Self-portrait with bandaged ear and pipe, 1889.

The bases that belong to the Van Gogh objects are made in the structure and painted after the background of his self-portraits. Therefore, the base can be placed both under and behind the object.
