‘Miffy has an iconographic meaning to us. Therefore, we decided not to cover her with paint or change her completely. When they saw the Miffy statue, many of our non-Dutch friends immediately said: ‘Oh, Miffy!’ in the same way you would immediately say: ’Oh, Rietveld’ when seeing a Rietveld chair or the colour combination of bleu-yellow-red. Miffy belongs to the collective memory everywhere in the world. That is why we, out of respect for this icon, made the decision to only body paint Miffy and to embellish her body that way.’ Their statue is called La Muze.
