Description

Gustav Klimt
As prominent member of the renewed art group Secession, Klimt is one of the most prominent pathfinders of modern painting. In addition to that, his ornamental Jugendstil irresistibly evokes the Viennese fin-die-siècle feeling: elitist, conventional-liberal, sometimes decadent-pleasing-decorative. The combination of the monumental style, the almost sycophantic ornamentation and classic symbolism creates a very recognisable oeuvre – created against the background of the characteristic romance of his time.

Adèle Bloch-Bauer
One of the most famous, most monumental portraits is the one of the wife of the captain of industry Ferdinand Bloch. It is the glorious highlight of Klimt’s golden time and proves to be the end of it. From 1903 onwards, Klimt conducts preliminary studies for the painting. Eventually he paints it in 1907 in his characteristic decorative style, which is pushed to extremes here.

This statue is 25 cm high.
